We use possessive adjectives when we are talking about something that belongs to something else.

Here is an example:
My brother is cool. Your sister is his girlfriend. Our cats are eating your lasagna. Their favorite food is lasagna.

When we use possessive adjectives in french, the adjective’s form depends upon what is being owned, not the owner.

So:
Mon frère est cool. Ta sœur est sa copine. Nos chats mangent votre lasagne. Leur nourriture favori est lasagne.

When I talk about my brother, I use the masculine form "mon", even though I am a girl. I use the feminine form “sa” when I translate “his girlfriend” because I am talking about the girlfriend, not my brother. And I use the singular form “leur” when I am talking about my cats’ favorite food, even though I have two cats.

Now, let’s apply it. Translate these phrases using the french possessive adjectives:
1. Your shirt is pretty.
2. My hat is green.
3. Our arms are tired.
4. His car is loud.
5. Their dogs ate my cat.
6. Your (plural) monkeys are throwing their bananas.
